Africa is home to some of the most beautiful and exotic animals in the world. There are so many amazing creatures living on this incredible continent that it can be hard to choose which one to see first! In this post, I'll share with you some of my favorite rare and unusual animals that you might encounter while on safari in Africa. Check them out below!

African Wild Dog
African Wild Dogs are the most endangered of all the wild dogs. They live in packs and hunt together, with a dominant male as their leader. African Wild Dogs are found in sub-Saharan Africa, where they roam over large territories in search of food.
African Wild Dogs have a distinctive black stripe down their spine that helps them to stand out from other animals when hunting or running through tall grasses. These animals are very social and highly territorial; they will defend their territory fiercely if threatened by other predators such as lions or hyenas who may steal their prey from them while they're eating!

Pangolin
The pangolin is a nocturnal mammal found in Africa. It's covered with scales, which it uses to protect itself from predators. The pangolin eats insects and can roll into a ball to protect itself from predators while sleeping.
Pangolins are small animals that grow up to 3 feet long, but they can weigh up to 66 pounds! They live in trees and rolls themselves into a ball when threatened by predators like lions or hyenas.

African Civet
The African civet is a small, cat-like creature with an unusually long tail. It lives mostly in trees and eats insects, fruits and berries. It's easy to spot in the wild because of its black fur and white stripes on its face.
Civets are important for several reasons: they help keep populations of insects under control; they're also known for eating snakes (yikes!) which can be dangerous to humans; finally, their poop contains valuable aromatic oils that are used in perfumes!

Aardwolf
Aardwolf is a nocturnal, insectivorous mammal that belongs to the hyena family. It is also known as an anteater because it has long snouts like those of a rodent and can dig up earthworms in the same way as its larger cousin, the aardvark. Aardwolves are small animals that usually weigh less than 6 pounds (2.7 kilograms). The name means "earth wolf" in Dutch and Afrikaans; some people believe that this name came from the fact that they eat termites.

Penguins
Penguins are flightless birds that live in the southern hemisphere. They can be spotted on the beach at Boulders Beach in Cape Town, South Africa, as well as on islands near Antarctica. Penguins are the only birds that can swim but cannot fly.

Conclusion
If you're planning a trip to Africa, be sure to keep an eye out for these unusual animals. They may not be as common as lions or elephants--but they are still worth seeing!
